About this check

What Article 50 covers

Article 50 of the EU AI Act sets out transparency obligations around generative systems: making it clear when someone is interacting with an AI system, and marking synthetic audio, image, video and text in a machine-readable format so it can be recognised as artificially generated.

The standards gap

The regulation requires markings to be effective, interoperable, robust and reliable, but does not mandate one specific format. In practice that means C2PA manifests, watermarks and metadata declarations — which is exactly the set this checker reads.

How to use the result

As an engineering check on your own pipeline: publish, scan, and see whether the marking you intended actually survived to the published artefact. It very often does not, and finding that out before an audit is worth more than any score.
