Where provenance lives in a video file
In MP4 and MOV files, a C2PA manifest is stored in a dedicated top-level box identified by a fixed UUID. We walk the box tree and find it if it is there, alongside duration, codec and the muxing application. WebM and Matroska files are parsed for duration and writing application.
Re-encoding destroys most signals
Uploading to a video platform re-encodes the file, which discards container-level credentials almost every time. A video that carried a manifest when exported will usually have none after a round trip through a social platform.
Frame-level watermarks
Watermarks embedded in the picture itself survive re-encoding, but verifying them requires the originating system's detector. Those checks report 'Not verifiable' here.
