About this check
What the file tells us
We parse the container directly: sample rate, channels, codec and exact duration, plus ID3, Vorbis comment or RIFF INFO tags. Generated audio frequently names its producing tool in the encoder field — a declaration, not proof, but often the only provenance present.
Audio watermarks
SynthID and comparable schemes mark generated speech and music inaudibly. Verifying them requires the originating vendor's detector, so those checks report 'Not verifiable'. C2PA manifests can also be carried in audio containers, and those we do read.
Formats
MP3 with ID3 tags, WAV, FLAC with exact sample counts, Ogg and M4A. Duration is computed from the container; for variable-bitrate MP3 it is an estimate and is labelled as one.
